Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash – Newark

Newark, Delaware – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at approximately 1:53 p.m., in which one driver has succumbed to her injuries.

The incident occurred when a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound in the left lane of Chapman Road approaching the intersection with Galleon Drive. A 2007 Honda Civic was traveling south on Galleon Drive approaching the intersection with Chapman Road. The Civic entered the intersection directly in the path of the Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee struck the left side of the Civic and then traveled in a southwest direction stopping on the eastbound lanes of Chapman Road. The Honda Civic rotated in a clockwise direction and traveled in a southwest direction and stopped in the grass.

The operator of the Honda Civic, Erica N. Cramatie, 36 of Wilmington, was transported to the Christiana Hospital for her life-threatening injuries where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The female operator of the 2015 Grand Cherokee, 38 of Newark, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Impairment on either driver is not being considered a factor in this collision.
