Newark, Delaware – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Newark man on multiple counts of reckless endangering after a physical altercation at a local area hotel.

The investigation has determined the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, as troopers responded to the Red Roof Inn located at 415 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark for an argument between two female coworkers who reside at the hotel. It was learned after the argument progressed the male companions of the coworkers also began to argue. One of the male suspects, identified as Quanisha T. Smith-Tyler, jumped in his 2013 Acura TL and accelerated at a high rate of speed toward the physical altercation attempted to strike them with his vehicle. The vehicle nearly struck those in the fight and crashed into the hotel causing major damage to the building and injuring a patron who was inside his room. The patron sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Christiana Hospital.

The suspect, Quanisha T. Smith-Tyler, 33 of Newark, was apprehended and transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Four Counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree and Criminal Mischief $5000 or More Damage to Property. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on an OR bond.
