Driver Succumbs to Injuries in Motorcycle Crash-Frankford

Frankford- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a motorcycle crash that has turned fatal.

The incident occurred on July 15, 2019 at approximately 11:02 p.m., when a 1997 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling southbound on Roxana Road (SR 17) approaching the intersection of Bennett Road (CR 371). An adult female deer entered the roadway directly in front of the motorcycle.  As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the deer within the southbound lane of travel. After impact, the operator lost control of his motorcycle causing it to overturn.

The operator of the motorcycle, 52-year-old Michael Dunlap from Temple, PA was not wearing a helmet.  He was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.  On July 17, 2019, Dunlap succumbed to his injuries at the Christina Hospital.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.
