Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving a Motorcycle – Claymont

Claymont – The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash involving a motorcycle that occurred this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:24 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019 on Harvey Rd. at the intersection with Jackson Ave. in Claymont. A 2001 Buell motorcycle, operated by a 30 year old Wilmington man was travelling eastbound on Harvey Rd. approaching Jackson Ave. A 2015 Nissan 200 SX, operated by a 22 year old Claymont man, was travelling westbound on Harvey Rd., attempting to turn left onto Jackson Ave. The Nissan turned directly in front of the motorcycle at which time the motorcycle struck the right side of the Nissan.

The motorcycle operator was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. Neither impairment nor improper driving are deemed as factors on his behalf.

The driver of the Nissan, who was not injured, was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

Harvey Rd. was closed for approximately 1 hour while the scene was investigated and cleared.
