Wilmington (19810)- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian that occurred last evening.
The incident occurred on June 9, 2019 at approximately 9:39 p.m., when a pedestrian was crossing the westbound lanes of Nammans Road from the F&N Shopping Center located at 2094 Naamans Road. A 2007 Chevrolet Express Van was exiting the shopping center and in the process of making a left turn onto westbound Nammans Road. The operator of the van failed to observe the pedestrian walking in the roadway and as a result the pedestrian was struck.
The operator of the van, a 47-year-old male from Wilmington was properly restrained and not injured. He was issued a traffic citation for Failure to have Required Insurance and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
The pedestrian, a 43-year-old male from Wilmington was not carrying any type of light and was also not utilizing a marked pedestrian crosswalk. He was transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition. He was issued a traffic citation for Failure to Carry a Light on a Public Roadway and Pedestrian Crossing at any Place Except a Marked Crosswalk.
