Troopers Investigating Shoplifting/Shots Fired Incident-Wilmington

Wilmington- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an incident that occurred at the Concord Mall in which a shoplifting case led to shots being fired at a vehicle.

The incident occurred on May 3, 2019, at approximately 7:44 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Concord Mall, located at 4737 Concord Pike, for a report of shots being fired.  Preliminary investigations has determined that four suspects had shoplifted and were in the process of fleeing the scene in a vehicle.  As the vehicle was fleeing, the driver intentionally struck a mall security vehicle.  A citizen with a conceal carry permit fired shots at the fleeing vehicle’s tires and remained on scene.

The four suspects proceeded to exit the vehicle and continued to flee the area on foot.  There have been no reports of any injuries at this time.

The investigation is in its early stages with further information being released as it becomes available.
