Date Posted: Thursday, May 2nd, 2019

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident which stemmed from a verbal altercation between two men that took place at a Newark area convenience store, Tuesday evening.

The incident began at approximately 6:27 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 when two men became engaged in a verbal altercation inside the Royal Farms, located at 1551 Pulaski Hwy. in Newark. The two men then mutually agreed to meet in the Sparrow Run development to engage in a fight. The 35 year old male victim drove to the area of Brookmont Dr. and Flamingo Dr. where he encountered the other man who was accompanied by a group of approximately seven other subjects. Upon the victim exiting his vehicle one of the subjects in the group produced a firearm and fired multiple rounds, one of which struck his vehicle.
