Troopers Attempting To Locate Burglary Suspect Curtis T. Downes

Seaford/Laurel- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate 38-year-old Curtis T. Downes of Laurel, DE who is wanted in connection with multiple burglaries.

The investigation began in early February 2019, when Troopers were dispatched to a residence located in the 23000 block of Atlanta Road, Seaford, for a report of a burglary.  It was learned that the same residence had been burglarized on three separate occasions.  It was discovered that a suspect had forced entry to a detached garage and once inside several items and tools were taken.  Troopers later discovered several of the stolen reported items had been pawned at a local pawn shop by Downes, who claimed to be the owner.

In late February 2019, Troopers responded to a residence in the 32000 block of  Bi State Boulevard, Laurel for a report of a burglary.  It was determined that a suspect had stolen several items including tools and power equipment from the residence.  Troopers discovered that Downes had also pawned items from this burglary at the same local pawn shop.

Troopers have been unable to locate Downes who is known to frequent the Laurel area.  He currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 and Troop 5 for the following:

  • Burglary Second Degree Dwelling
  • Burglary Third Degree (3 counts)
  • Theft $1500 or Greater (2 counts)
  • Theft Under $1500 (2 counts)
  • Theft by False Pretense over $1500 (2 counts)
  • Selling Stolen Property Value Over $1500 (3 counts)
  • Falsifying Business Records (3 counts)
  • Criminal Mischief
