Date Posted: Friday, February 22nd, 2019

Millsboro– The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an attempted robbery and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect.

On February 21, 2019, Troopers were dispatched to the 28000 block of John J. Williams Highway in reference to a robbery investigation. Upon arrival, it was learned that the victim, a 34-year-old male from Millsboro was walking in the area of the Harris Teeter’s, Longneck when he came in contact with an acquaintance, 37-year-old Don D. Zakrociemski of Millsboro.  The victim advised Zakrociemski that he needed to go to the M&T Bank to cash a check.  Zakrociemski offered the victim a ride, and the victim subsequently entered the vehicle.  Zakrociemski drove the victim to the M&T Bank, Millsboro and the victim cashed his check.  When Zakrociemski and the victim left the bank, the victim realized that he was being driven in the opposite direction of where he was headed.  Zakrociemski proceeded to a private lane off of John J. Williams Highway and parked the vehicle.  Zakrociemski began demanding the money and a struggle ensued.  The victim was able to exit the vehicle and proceeded to take off on foot.  Zakrociemski proceeded to follow the victim onto private property in his vehicle and attempted to strike the victim with the vehicle.  Prior to police arrival, Zakrociemski fled the scene.  The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the physical altercation and was not struck by the vehicle.

Troopers have been unable to locate Zakrociemski who currently has active warrants out of Troop 4 for the following:

  • Attempted to Commit Robbery Second Degree
  • Reckless Endanger First Degree
  • Assault Third Degree
