Troopers Investigating Serious Crash on I95-Newark

Newark- The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred earlier today on northbound John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I95) north of the Christiana Road off ramp (Rt. 273).

The incident occurred on Friday, November 30, 2018 at approximately 11:38 a.m., when a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo was traveling northbound on I95 and lost control striking the guardrails.  The vehicle continued to spin out of control, striking a 2016 Tractor Trailer and a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that were also traveling northbound on I95.

The driver of the Aveo, an 18 year old male from Newark was ejected and transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition.  He was issued a traffic citation for careless driving.

The driver of the Tractor Trailer, a 36-year-old male from Alabama was not injured.

The driver of the Tahoe, a 46-year-old male from Elkton, MD was not injured.

I95 northbound in the area of Rt. 273 was closed for approximately 1 hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.
