*Update* Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash-Harrington

Harrington– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:58 a.m., on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, when a blue Dodge Dakota was traveling northbound on Ingram Branch Road approaching a posted stop sign at the intersection of Whiteleysburg Road. A teal green Lincoln Town Car was traveling eastbound on Whiteleysburg Road approaching the intersection of Ingram Branch Road.  For unknown reasons, the operator of the Dakota failed to stop at the posted stop sign and attempted to make a left turn onto Whiteleysburg Road, striking the Town Car head on in the eastbound lane of Whiteleysburg Road.  After the impact, the Town Car traveled off the roadway in a grassy ditch, where it caught fire.

The operator of the Dodge, an 86-year-old male from Harrington, was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Identification is pending notification of next of kin.

The operator of the Town Car, a 33-year-old male from Galena, Maryland was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Whiteleysburg Road in the area of Ingram Branch Road was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
