*UPDATE #2* Troopers Investigating Crash Involving a Motorcycle – Philadelphia Pike

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a crash involving a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 11:26 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018 on Philadelphia Pike in the area of Holly Oak Rd.

The investigation has determined that a 1982 Harley Davidson XLH motorcycle, operated by a 65 year old Claymont man, was traveling Philadelphia Pike southbound just south of W. Holly Oak Rd. A 2007 Lexus GS450, operated by a 56 year old Wilmington woman, was traveling Philadelphia Pike northbound and proceeded to turn left into a business located 1507 Philadelphia Pike, directly in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle operator applied his brakes in order to avoid colliding with the Lexus but could not do so and struck the right side of the vehicle.

The motorcycle operator was transported to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

The operator of the Lexus was not injured as a result of the crash. She was cited for “Vehicle Turning Left Must Yield the Right of Way”

Philadelphia Pike was closed for approximately 90 minutes while the scene was investigated and cleared.
