Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash- Felton

Felton-  The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a crash that occurred in July, 2018 that has turned into a fatal.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 30, 2018 at approximately 8:55 a.m., when a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling northbound on Canterbury Road (SR15) just north of Roseville Road (CR 387). A 2013 Dodge Avenger was traveling southbound on Canterbury Road north of Roseville Road. The Cavalier crossed into the southbound lane and struck the left front bumper and side of the Avenger.

Following the impact, the Cavalier spun in a counter-clockwise direction before coming to a final rest on the shoulder. The Avenger continued southbound and rotated in a counter-clockwise direction before coming to a stop in the roadway.

The operator of the Cavalier, 19-year-old Terri Monae Nashie Bruinton of Ellendale, was not wearing her seatbelt and was initially transported to the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital before being transferred to the Christiana Medical Center. Bruinton had an extended stay at Christiana Medical Center before succumbing to her injuries on August 24, 2018.

The operator of the Avenger, a 56-year-old male from Houston, DE was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
