Dover- The Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit and the Dover Police Department Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime Unit, concluded a two month drug investigation which led to multiple charges.
On Thursday, August 2, 2018 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted on S. Dupont Highway in the area of Lebanon Road. Contact was made with the driver, 27-year-old Eric K. Johnson of Dover, who initially provided a false name. Subsequently Johnson was taken into custody and a search of his vehicle revealed approximately 1,326 bags of heroin (9.292 grams) and over $600.00 in suspected drug proceeds.
Johnson was known to frequent a residence in the River Chase Apartments, Dover. Subsequently a search warrant was executed at that residence. Upon the execution of the search warrant approximately 2,210 more bags of heroin (15.47 grams) and over $2,000.00 in suspected drug proceeds were located.
As a result of the search warrant and investigation, the home owner identified as 28-year-old Maurita Guzman was taken into custody without incident.
Eric K. Johnson was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:
Johnson was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $102,501 secured bond.
Maurita Guzman was transported back to Troop 3 where she was charged with the following:
Guzman was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $13,500.00 unsecured bond.
