State Police Detectives Investigating Shooting-Laurel

Laurel- Delaware State Police Detectives are currently investigating a shooting that occurred on July 9, 2018 at the Carvel Gardens Apartments.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 9, 2018 at approximately 11:44 p.m. when the Laurel Police Department with the assistance of Troop 5 patrol units responded to the area of the 200 building in Carvel Gardens Apartments for a shooting.  Upon arrival, units discovered an 18-year-old male victim from Seaford, on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  The victim was transported by ambulance to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and later flown to a local area hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A second victim, 22-year-old male who fled the scene, was later identified at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.  He suffered lacerations to his hand and face, and was treated and released.

Preliminary investigation has determined that an altercation took place between multiple subjects in the area when the victim was subsequently shot by an unknown suspect.

The incident continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police.  If anyone has any information in reference to this case, they are asked to please contact Detective K. Archer at 302-752-3791.
