Bridgeville- Delaware State Police arrest a Bridgeville man after a domestic incident led to the victim being struck by a vehicle.

The incident occurred on Monday, June 11, 2018 at approximately 5:08 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the 20700 block of Booker T. Washington Street, for an assault complaint. Upon arrival it was discovered that during the course of a domestic incident, the victim, an 18-year-old male, had been stuck with a vehicle in which his older brother, 21-year-old Jaquan A. James was driving.

Further investigation revealed that Jaquan was at his mother’s residence, fixing her vehicle, when his 18-year-old brother came home, wanting access to a shed that had been locked.  An argument ensued between 18-year-old son and mother, in which the mother went inside to retrieve a bat and a machete as it was believed that her son was in possession of a gun.  The 18-year-old son began to walk away from his mother and the residence when Jaquan proceeded to back out of the driveway in his vehicle, subsequently striking his brother.

The 18-year-old victim was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

Jaquan was transported back to Troop 5, where he was charged with Assault First (Felony) and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.  He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $40,000.00 unsecured bond.
