Delmar – Delaware State Police are on scene of a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a train that occurred this morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:58 a.m., Friday, May 4, 2018, on Bacons Road between Powell Farm Lane and Country Walk. A passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on Bacons Road when a train was traveling southbound on the railroad tracks. The vehicle had crossed onto the railroad tracks and was subsequently struck by the train. The driver of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been notified of the crash and officials from the Delmarva Central Railroad are on scene. Bacons Road between Powell Farm Lane and Country Walk still remains closed at this time.
