2018 Annual Delaware State Police Wreath-Laying Ceremony

Dover- Wednesday May 2, 2018, at 9:30 a.m., the Delaware State Police conducted their Annual Police Memorial Service at the Delaware State Police Training Academy, located at 1441 North DuPont Highway. The 46 Annual Delaware Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service on Legislative Mall was also held in Dover following the State Police Ceremony in Dover.

Fellow Troopers, Family members, Relatives, and Friends gathered to remember those Troopers who have made the “Ultimate Sacrifice” in service to the State of Delaware.  Twenty Four, (24) Troopers have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1923.

Governor John C. Carney Jr., Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, Attorney General Matthew Denn, Secretary Robert M. Coupe, Department of Safety and Homeland Security, Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr., Superintendent of the Delaware State Police, Lieutenant Thomas Brackin President of the Delaware State Troopers Association and Mrs. Eleanor Allione, Concerns of Police Survivors Chapter President were in attendance and shared heartfelt and encouraging words.

The Delaware State Police Honor Guard presented the “Colors of this Great Nation” which was followed by Trooper First Class Janieka Cole singing our “National Anthem”. During the Memorial Ceremony, Major Robert Hudson was called upon to conduct the “Roll Call” where he announced the names of our troopers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the citizens of Delaware. The Roll Call was followed by Placing of the Wreath, the Rifle Volley of the 21 Gun Salute, Amazing Grace by the Delaware State Police Pipes and Drums and concluded with Taps by Sergeant Jonathan Packard.
