Wilmington (19803)- Delaware State Police are investigating the attempted robbery of a Wilmington man in a grocery store parking lot and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the above pictured suspect who is wanted in connection.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 6, 2018 at approximately 4:40 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Acme, located at 1901 Concord Pike for a report of an attempted robbery.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with an 80-year-old victim who advised he had just walked out of the Acme and over to his vehicle, when he was approached by a subject asking for a helping hand.  The victim informed the subject that he did not have any money.  The suspect then proceeded to grab the victim’s pocket in an attempt to take his wallet.  The victim was able to pull away from the suspect, who then took off running without obtaining any personal belongings.  The victim was not harmed as a result of this incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 25-35 years of age, 5’07”-5’09” tall, 130-140 pounds, thin build, with brown hair, wearing a green and white Phillies jersey over a long sleeve gray t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots. The suspect was carrying a black cane, but did not appear to require the use of the device for mobility.  It is believed that the suspect had a light patch of skin on his right cheek.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident and the identity of the suspect is asked to please contact the Troop 2 Robbery Unit,  Detective C. Hevelow  at 302-365-8566.
