Wilmington- The Delaware State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a residential burglary.

On Sunday, March 25, 2018 at approximately 1:55 p.m. Troopers were dispatched to a residence located in the 600 block of Beaver Dam Road for a report of a burglary.  Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with the homeowner who advised that when he returned to his residence this afternoon, he noticed an older model red colored vehicle in his driveway.  As the homeowner approached the vehicle, he made contact with the sole occupant who was seated in the driver’s seat.  The homeowner advised that the subject, later identified as 47-year-old John J. Wallace of Wilmington, indicated to him that he was on the property because he was interested in purchasing the house.  It was noted that the residence is not on the market for sale.  As Wallace pulled away from the residence, the homeowner was able to obtain the registration of the vehicle.

Through further investigations, it was determined that Wallace had entered the residence through a side door by breaking a glass window pane, allowing him to access the doorknob.  No items were reported stolen at this time.

Troopers responded to Wallace’s residence in the 300 block of Delta Road, Wilmington, where he was taken into custody without incident.  He was transported back to Troop 1, where he was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief.  Wallace was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $2,700.00 unsecured bond.
