Troopers Investigate Stabbing-Wilmington

Wilmington (19808)– The Delaware State Police Major Crimes Unit detectives are currently investigating a stabbing that occurred late last night.

The investigation began on Friday, March 9, 2018 at approximately 10:24 p.m., when Troopers responded to the area of Kirkwood Highway and Delaware Park Boulevard for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival they found a 51 year old victim of Wilmington with a stab wound to the body. The victim was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was a passenger on a DART bus and at some point later the suspect also got on the bus. During the bus ride the suspect moved from his seat and decided to sit near the victim where he engaged in a verbal argument with him. The victim exited the bus at Kirkwood Highway and Delaware Park Boulevard and walked across the street. The suspect proceeded to follow him and then confronted the victim again where he stabbed him. The suspect then fled eastbound on Kirkwood Highway.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white male, approximately 5’09” tall, approximately 60 years old, with a full grey beard and mustache wearing a red sweatshirt and blue jeans.
