Troopers Arrest Pair in Connection with New Castle area Robberies

Date Posted: Wednesday, February 14th, 2018

New Castle – Delaware State Police detectives have arrested two men after a two week investigation into a pair of New Castle area robberies.

The first incident occurred January 29, 2018 at the 7-11, located at 284 Christiana Road, with the second occurring February 7, 2018, at the Shell gas station, located at 299 Christiana Road. In each incident a white male suspect would wait for the cashier to open the register while completing a transaction, and then grab cash from the open drawer, before fleeing on foot.

Through various investigative leads which included intelligence information provided by the New Castle County Police Department, detectives were able to positively identify Ryan Hensley, 18, of Townsend and John Hoxter, 31, of New Castle, as suspects in both incidents. The duo’s plan entailed Hoxter entering the respective business and then proceed to make a purchase. Once the cashier opened the register to complete Hoxter’s transaction, Hensley would rush behind the sales counter and grab cash from the open drawer.

Both Hensley and Hoxter were taken in to custody by detectives on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2 where they were charged with 2 counts each of Robbery 2nd Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree.

Both men were arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2, before being committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $8000.00 secured bail.

Anyone with further information regarding these incidents are asked to contact Detective A. Andres of the Troop 2 Robbery Unit by calling 302-365-8566.
