Troopers Arrest Suspect for Multiple Burglaries

Kent/Sussex County- The Delaware State Police have arrested a suspect in connection with multiple burglaries.

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 and Troop 4 Property Crimes Unit completed a month long joint investigation into multiple burglaries.  A burglary was committed on January 1, 2018 at the King’s Tire and Lube business located at 955 Bay Road, Milford in which more than $5,000.00 in tires were stolen.  Through investigative measures, 36-year-old Michael A. Cole of Lincoln was developed as a suspect in this burglary which led him to the connection of multiple others.  It was later discovered that Cole was transporting stolen property to a residence located in the 1400 block of Vernon Road, Harrington.  A search warrant was executed at the Vernon Road address which resulted in the recovery of property valued at approximately $17,535.00.  The property included a Honda ATV, two wood splitters, EZ GO gold cart, 15 Adirondack chairs, seven wood carved bar stools, a wood carved fisherman, dolphin, and pelican, 10 motor vehicle tires, six golf cart batteries, and five Dewalt power tools.

On Friday, February 9, 2018 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Troop 3’s Criminal Investigative Unit (CIU) executed a search warrant at Cole’s residence in the 14000 block of Staytonville Road, Lincoln, in which he was taken into custody without incident.  Cole was charged with one count of Burglary 2nd, seven counts of Burglary 3rd, 6 counts of Criminal Mischief, seven counts of Criminal Trespass, 10 counts of Theft, three counts of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, five counts of Selling Stolen Property, one count of Possession of Burglary Tools, and 2 counts of Conspiracy 2nd.  Cole was arraigned out of the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $53,550.00 secured bond.
