*UPDATE* Serious Crash has Harvey Road Closed – Claymont

Claymont – Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon on Harvey Road, between Wilson Road and Madison Avenue, Claymont.

The investigation has determined that at approximately 2:23 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, a 1999 Dodge Dakota was traveling westbound on Harvey Road, when the driver, a 75 year old Claymont man, is believed to have suffered a medical event, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The Dodge traveled off the roadway, striking a utility pole on Harvey Road in the area Wilson Road, then continued westbound, before coming to rest in the front yard of a residence in the 600 block of Harvey Road.

The operator of the vehicle was treated on scene by EMS before being transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

There were no other occupants in the Dodge and no other vehicles were involved.

Harvey Road between Wilson Road and Madison Avenue was closed for approximately 3 hours as crews repaired the utility pole.
