Millsboro– The Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway (SR 24) and Long Neck Road (SR 5) last evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:04 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 as a Honda motorcycle was traveling westbound on John J. Williams Highway approaching the intersection at Long Neck Road. Subsequently a 2006 Isuzu sweeper truck was traveling eastbound, approaching the same intersection.  The operator of the Honda, 43-year-old man of Snow Hill MD, attempted a left turn, directly in the path of the Isuzu, resulting in an impact in the eastbound lane.

After impact, the Honda was redirected eastbound and was pushed by the Isuzu for a short distance before coming to a rest. The operator of the Honda was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest next to the Isuzu.

The operator of the Honda was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to the Beebe Medical Center prior to being transferred to the Christiana Hospital in serious condition. He was wearing a helmet during the time of this crash, and alcohol is considered to be a factor on his behalf.

The operator of the Isuzu, 42-year old man of Salisbury, MD, was properly restrained and not injured as a result of this crash. John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Long Neck Road was closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
