Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery of Newark Area Dry Cleaner

Salem Dry Cleaner

Newark (19713) – Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area dry cleaner that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:52 p.m., Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Salem Dry Cleaners, located at 16 Salem Village Square, Newark. A male suspect, approached a 72 year old employee at the sales counter, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the register. The employee complied with the demand by placing  an undisclosed amount of cash in to a bag provided by the suspect. Once retaining possession of the bag the suspect exited the store, fleeing in a dark colored SUV, southbound on Salem Church Road. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The male suspect is described as having a light complexion, 5’5”-5’7”, 140-160 lbs., wearing all black clothing, black wool cap, black mask covering the lower portion of his face and in possession of a black handgun.

No surveillance photos are available at this time.
