Troopers Investigating Armed Robbery – Bear

Bear – Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Bear area convenience store, in which a shot was fired.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Tobacco Store, located at 1645 Pulaski Highway, Bear. A suspect entered the business displaying a silver handgun, and approached the 21 year old, male employee who was behind the sales counter. The suspect then vaulted the counter, as he demanded money from the register. The victim complied with the demand, and placed an undisclosed amount of cash into a bag, before handing it over to the suspect as directed. While demanding more money, from additional registers, the suspect fired a round from the handgun, into the ceiling. Prior to exiting the store the suspect also removed an unknown quantity of cigarettes and lighters. The suspect was last seen running eastbound in the parking lot, towards the Food Lion grocery store. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.
