Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance in Locating Wanted Subject

Felton– The Delaware State Police in conjunction with the Milford Police Department are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a wanted subject in connection with a robbery and shopliftings.

The first incident occurred on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at approximately 11:07 p.m. when Troopers responded to the Canterbury Shore Stop located at 8953 South DuPont Highway in Felton for a report of a shoplifting complaint.  Investigation revealed that a white male subject entered the store and asked for two cartons of Newport cigarettes.  When the store clerk placed the cartons on the counter, the subject grabbed them and ran out of the store.  It was later determined that Milford Police had recently handled a similar incident in their jurisdiction.  With their assistance and through video surveillance footage, the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Douglas F. Coppock of Frederica.

The second shoplifting incident occurred on Thursday, November 15, 2017 at approximately 9:16 p.m. when Troopers responded to Uncle Willies, located at 12984 South DuPont Highway in Felton for a report of a shoplifting complaint.  Investigation revealed that a white male subject requested to purchase one carton of Newport Short Cigarettes.  When the store clerk placed the carton on the counter, the subject grabbed the carton of cigarettes and fled out of the front entrance of the store.  Through photographs and video surveillance footage, Douglas Coppock was again identified as the suspect.

Coppock is described as a white male, 5’10” tall, 160 lbs., blue eyes, and is believed to be operating a 2007 white, Chevrolet Malibu with Delaware registration 7627.

Coppock is also wanted out of Milford Police Department for Robbery and Theft charges.  He is also wanted out of Troop 3 for unrelated charges including Theft, Theft By False Pretense, and Falsifying Business Records.
