Superintendent Colonel Nathaniel McQueen Jr.
Last year, the Delaware State Police partnered with Nexdoor.com, a free, secure and private social network for neighborhoods. Since then we have more than tripled our membership with 75,854 total members, 2,872 newest members within the past 30 days with 33,007 posts with over 1,800 crime and safety posts. This website has enabled the Delaware State Police to enhance communications with the neighborhoods we serve.
The Delaware State Police is the first State Police agency in the country to utilize Nexdoor.com, which has been a first-rate networking tool used to help foster neighbor-to-neighbor communications. Troops throughout the state use this social media platform so neighbors across the state will be able to work together to increase safety and strengthen virtual neighborhood watch programs.
The Delaware State Police has used this website to inform members on Public Service Announcements like; Fraud Alerts, Bicyclist Safety, Pedestrian Safety, School Safety Tips, Deer Crash Safety, Holiday Safety Tips, Theft Prevention Tips and Alerts of Increased Thefts from specific geographical areas in the state. Other uses include announcements for the Citizen’s Police Academy, Community Outreach Initiatives like our Community Cafés, Donation Drives, Cold Weather Coat Initiatives, Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs Program, Burglary Arrests, Identify Theft Suspects, Community Night-Out Against Drugs and Crime, Back the Blue Events and Troop Commander Announcements to name a few.
One feature is the forwarding of Crime & Safety Posts to law enforcement. If you have an active law enforcement agency, such as the Delaware State Police using Nexdoor.com you may have the ability to forward your Crime & Safety posts and urgent alerts.
We encourage others to visit and research the website www.nextdoor.com and simply follow the easy steps to log in and after establishing their very own website visit help.nextdoor.com for any questions or concerns.
Please note Nextdoor.com is not the way to request emergency services, police services, report in-progress criminal or suspicious activity, file a report, etc. If you require emergency services, please call 911.
