**Traffic Advisory** Tractor Trailer Fire Closes I-295 northbound at I-95

New Castle – State Police, fire personnel, DNREC, and DelDOT, are currently on the scene of tractor trailer fire that has shut down a section of I-295.

The incident occurred around 2:38 a.m. Sunday October 29, 2017 when a tractor trailer carrying construction equipment was traveling northbound on I-95 merging onto I-295 northbound.  For unknown reasons, the tractor trailer struck a construction impact attenuator that was centered between the I-95 and I-295 split before overturning and catching fire.

The 55-year-old male driver from Pageland, South Carolina, was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Christiana Medical Center where his is currently admitted with undetermined injuries.  No charges have been filed at this time.

The fire has caused extensive damage to the roadway and engineers are on-scene surveying any damage to the 141 overpass.
