Greenwood – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into a fatal crash northwest of Greenwood.

The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. Friday September 29, 2017 as a 2008 Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Andrewsville Road just east of Greenwood Road.  For unknown reasons, the pickup truck’s right side tires went off the south edge of the roadway causing the rear of the vehicle to rotate in a counter-clockwise direction before crossing the westbound lane and traveling off the north side of the roadway.  As the truck traveled off the roadway, it struck a mailbox with its right side.  The pickup’s right side tires then gouged into the grass and overturned several times through the front yard of a private residence ejecting two of the three subjects onto the ground.  The Ford pickup came to stop in a corn field facing upright in a northerly direction.  All three occupants were not properly restrained.

A 41-year old Greenwood man was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital (MMH) where he was pronounced dead.  His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A 22-year-old Greenwood woman was transported by EMS to MMH and later transferred to Christiana Medical Center where she is admitted in critical condition.

A 45-year-old Harrington man was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital by EMS where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in the case.  The operator of the truck has not been identified at this time.  Andrewville Road at Greenwood Road was closed for approximately four and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
