Wilmington (19809) – The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues the investigation of a motor vehicle crash which occurred on September 16th and that has claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man.

The investigation thus far has determined that the crash occurred on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at approximately 5:44 p.m., as a 26-year-old Wilmington male was operating a 2011 Volkswagen GTI and was traveling in a westbound direction on Cauffiel Parkway, attempting to cross the northbound lanes of Philadelphia Pike. As the Volkswagen entered the left hand lane of northbound Philadelphia Pike, its left side was struck by a 2014 Honda Accord, which was being operated by Edwin Jamieson, 70, of Aston, PA. After the impact both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lanes of Philadelphia Pike just north of the intersection with Bellevue Parkway.

Edwin Jamieson, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. He was then transported by EMS to the Wilmington Hospital where he was admitted for his injuries. He was cited by troopers with Failure to Stop at a Red Light. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was  subsequently contacted and advised that Edwin Jamieson succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Sunday, September 24.

A 70-year-old female passenger in Jamieson’s vehicle, who was also properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by paramedics. She was then transported to the Wilmington Hospital where she was treated for her non-life threatening injuries.

The male operator, and sole occupant of the Volkswagen, was also treated at the scene before being transported to the Wilmington Hospital where he was admitted for his non-life threatening injuries. He was also properly restrained at the time of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
