State Troopers Investigating Robbery of New Castle Area Grocery Store

Robbery New Castle

New Castle – Delaware State Police are currently investigating the armed robbery of a New Castle area grocery store that occurred early Friday evening.

The investigation thus far has determined that the incident happened on Friday September 1, 2017 at approximately 8:40 p.m., as two male suspects entered the La Tlaxquenita located at 218 New Castle Avenue.  One of the suspects then approached a male employee who was standing behind the sales counter and pointed a handgun at him while demanding money from the register.  The second suspect stood by the front door armed with a handgun and ushered two female patrons to the middle of the store.  The employee provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register before the two exited the business and fled in an unknown direction.  There were no injuries reported.

The first suspect was described as a black male, 30-40 years of age, 6’00”-6’02” tall, weighed 180-190 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants (no further physical or clothing description available).  Armed with an unknown type handgun.

The second suspect was described as a black male, 18-20 years of age, 5’08”-5’10” tall, weighed 175-180 lbs.  He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants (no further physical or clothing description available).  Armed with an unknown type handgun.
