Newark- The Delaware Sate State Police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist that occurred this evening in Newark.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 9:49 p.m. this evening, Sunday, July 16, 2017, on northbound I-95 just south of the Churchman’s Marsh, and involves a motorcyclist who was struck by several passenger cars which have yet to be identified. As a result of the crash the subject operating the motorcycle has been declared dead.

All lanes of I-95 northbound have been closed at this time and traffic is being diverted off of the highway south of the crash scene. Commuters are asked to find alternate routes of travel and should expect lengthy delays in the area.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is enroute to the scene and will assume the investigation which is in its early stages. More information will be provided at the conclusion of the investigation.
