Troopers Investigating Serious Crash- Stanton- Update

Stanton- Delaware State Police continue to investigate a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred late last night.

The investigation thus far has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 10:52 p.m. last night, Sunday, May 29, 2017, as Claudia A. Ortiz, 25, of Wilmington, was operating a 2010 Honda Accord and was traveling in a northbound direction on Delaware Park Drive in the area of Old Capitol Trail. For an unknown reason Ortiz lost control of the Honda on the wet roadway. The vehicle then traveled off of the east edge of the roadway where it then struck a tree before coming to rest.

Claudia Ortiz and a 32 year old male passenger, who were both properly restrained at the time of the crash, were trapped in the car for a period of time before they could be extricated by responding emergency personnel. They were both transported by ambulance to the Christiana Medical Center where they were admitted with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police. Alcohol and drug use are not being considered as a factors in the crash.
