Off-Duty Trooper Involved in Domestic Related Shooting

Pike Creek – Delaware State Police are currently on the scene of a domestic related shooting involving an off-duty trooper.

Preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. Sunday May 21, 2017 when a 9-1-1 call was received from a residence in the 3200 block of Champions Drive stating shots had been fired in the residence.  New Castle County Police and Delaware State Police responded to the address and found an off-duty female trooper severely battered and a male subject (boyfriend) with a gun shot wound to the upper torso.  New Castle County Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the two by EMS to Christiana Medical Center where they are currently being treated.

The investigation into this incident is in the very early stages.  Criminal Investigation Detectives are continuing their investigation by conducting interviews and collecting evidence at the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.  Additional information and investigative details will be disseminated as soon as it becomes available and the investigation progresses.
