Troopers Investigating Serious Crash Involving a Pedestrian

Bear- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash in which a pedestrian was struck that occurred this evening.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred at approximately 8:09 p.m., on eastbound US Rt. 40 (Pulaski Highway) just east of DE Rt. 72 (Wrangle Hill Road) and involves a motor vehicle and a subject who was struck as they attempted to cross the highway. The struck pedestrian was removed from the scene and transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries. The operator of the motor vehicle was able to bring their car to a controlled stop at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of US Rt. 40 are currently closed at the crash scene and commuters are asked to find alternate routes of travel.

The investigation into this crash is in its early stages. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
