**Update** Detectives Make Arrest in November Robbery of Canterbury Shore Stop

Felton – The Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit have made an arrested in the late November robbery of the Canterbury Shore Stop.

Daequan Martin, 18 of Frederica, was arrested Wednesday December 21, 2016 and charged with Robbery 1st, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, and Possession of a Destructive Weapon for his involvement in the November 21, 2016 robbery of the Canterbury Shore Stop.

Through investigative measures, Martin was identified as the suspect in the gas station robbery while detectives were conducting a separate burglary investigation that occurred sometime between November 28, 2016 and November 30, 2016 at the Liberto Storage Facility (1502 East Lebanon Road, Dover).  In this investigation, Martin and two other subjects used bolt cutters to remove a lock from a storage unit and remove over $3,500.00 worth of various personal items.

On Wednesday December 21, 2016, detectives obtained a search warrant for a residence in Leipsic where Daequan Martin was taken into custody without incident.  Upon conducting the search, detectives located a 7.62 mm rifled and a 12 gauge shotgun with a modified barrel less than 18 inches in the bedroom in which Martin was staying.

Daequan Martin was transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the above listed crimes as well as the additional charges of Burglary 3rd, Theft over $1500, Criminal Mischief, Conspiracy 2nd, and Possession of Burglary Tools.  He was arraigned at JP2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $121,000.00 secured bond.

The two other subjects involved in the Liberto Storage Facility burglary, Christopher Forster, 37 of Dover, and Tanya P. Martin, 34 of Frederica, have also been arrested for their involvement and were released on unsecured bonds.

State Police Investigating Robbery of Canterbury Shore Stop

Felton – Troopers are investigating a robbery of the Canterbury Shore Stop that occurred just after midnight.

The incident occurred around 12:18 a.m. Monday November 21, 2016, when a male suspect entered the convenience store located at 8953 South DuPont Highway and approached the female employee at the counter armed with what appeared to be a shotgun.  The clerk complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of currency.  The male then fled the business in an unknown direction.  The female employee was uninjured in this incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 16-30 years of age, 5’05”-5’10” tall, 130-185 lbs., wearing all dark colored clothing (No further physical or clothing description).  Armed with what appeared to be a shotgun.  (Surveillance photo attached)
