Troopers Investigate Milton Area Home Invasion- Update

Milton– Delaware State Police have identified the victim who was assaulted during a home invasion style robbery that occurred at a residence located in the 17000 block of Pettyjohn Road, Milton, on Sunday, November 20, 2016, as James Green, 78. Mr. Green was pronounced dead on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Christiana Hospital, where he had been admitted since the incident. The Division of Forensic Sciences has conducted an autopsy and has ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation and will continue to conduct interviews as well as examine physical evidence in order to attempt to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. Additional information and investigative details will be disseminated as soon as it becomes available and the investigation progresses.  No suspect information has been developed at this time.

Milton, De.– The Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion style robbery that occurred south of Milton early Sunday morning.

The preliminary investigation into this incident revealed it occurred around 7:33 a.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 when a neighbor observed smoke in the area of the victim’s residence in the 17000 block of Pettyjohn Road, Milton. As the neighbor responded toward the residence, the victim was found outside near the roadway. The victim had been asleep when unknown subjects entered the residence and struck the victim in the head with an unknown object where he subsequently went unconscious. The victim’s residence was fully involved and extinguished by the fire department. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local area hospital.

The suspect or possibly multiple suspects were only described as males (No further physical or clothing description).
