Troopers Investigate Robbery of Big Lots Store

New Castle- Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a Big Lots Store that occurred last night in New Castle.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. last night, Tuesday, November 29, 2016, as a male suspect entered the Big Lots store located at 26 Penn Mart Shopping Center, New Castle. The suspect approached the sales counter and handed the female clerk an item to purchase. As the clerk opened the cash register drawer, the suspect began to remove money from the drawer. The clerk attempted to stop the suspect, however, he pushed her hands away and continued to remove the money. He then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. The clerk suffered a minor injury but refused any medical treatment at the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 40-50 years of age, 5’03”-5’07” tall, weighed 180-200 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black coat and a black and orange hat. He did not display a weapon or imply that he was armed.
