Traffic Stop Nets Drugs and Stolen Gun – Dover

Dover – A traffic stop on State Route 1 nets drugs and a stolen gun out of Virginia.

The incident occurred around 10:05 a.m. Monday October 31, 2016 when a trooper conducting speed enforcement on The Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway (SR1) southbound near the Dover toll plaza clocked a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit.  A traffic stop was conducted on the Mazda 6 just south of the toll plaza where the operator, Angelina Correa, 25 of Portsmouth, Virginia, was contacted.  An odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and a search was conducted.  The search revealed 12 individually packaged bags of cocaine (1.68 grams) and a .45 caliber handgun, which was reported stolen to the Virginia Beach Police Department on August 31, 2016.

Both the operator and a passenger, Keosha Cherry, 26 of Norfolk, Virginia, were taken into custody without incident and upon searching Cherry, she was found to be in possession of 2.18 of marijuana.  They were transported back to Troop 3 in Camden where Angelina Correa was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, Speeding, and Failure to Have Insurance in Possession.  She was arraigned at JP2 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $43,503.00 secured bond.

Keosha Cherry was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.  She was arraigned at JP2 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $48,501.00 secured bond.
