Kent County Drug Unit Arrest Felton Man for Heroin Distribution

Felton – The Delaware State Police Kent County Drug Unit has arrested a Felton man in connection with an August 2016 drug investigation.

Robert D. Jones, 37 of Felton, was taken into custody Thursday October 27, 2016 around 2:15 p.m. as he was entering an apartment complex in Smyrna.  Jones was already wanted in connection with an investigation that took place on August 24, 2016 when he fled a residence in the unit block of Skinner Lane, Felton, after detectives were attempting arrest him for a large scale heroin operation at the house.  A search conducted of the house on Skinner Lane resulted in the recovery of 4,212 bags (63.18 grams) of heroin.

Jones fled from a trooper attempting to conduct a traffic stop back in August and detectives were able to gather information that he has been living in the Heron Run Apartments with an acquaintance, who was identified as Ikea M Dunbar, 25 of Smyrna.

Robert Jones, who initially gave a false name upon being contacted, was transported back to Smyrna Police Department where he was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance in a Tier 4 Quantity (Heroin), Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 5 Quantity (Heroin), Tampering with Physical Evidence, Conspiracy 2nd, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, along with numerous traffic violations when he fled from the traffic stop.  He was also charged with Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited when four shotgun shells were found in the car he was driving, along with Criminal Impersonation.  Jones was arraigned at JP2 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $66,510.00 cash bond.

Ikea Dunbar was charged with Hindering Prosecution and released on $2,000.00 unsecured bond.
