Date Posted: Saturday, October 22nd, 2016

Presented by Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier

Newark – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an incident in which several shots were fired in the parking lot of the Christiana Mall.

The investigation began at approximately 5:10 a.m. Saturday October 22, 2016 as troopers responded to the parking lot on the west side of Nordstrom, located at 100 Christiana Mall Road, for numerous reports of gun fire. When troopers arrived, they were contacted by some passengers of a party bus that had just returned from a trip to the Washington D.C. area.  Interviews with some of the occupants stated they were just exiting the bus to go to their cars when numerous gunshots rang out.  They quickly re-entered the bus and departed the area for safety until the troopers arrived on scene.  None of the passengers were injured in the incident, although a parked car was damaged by some bullets.

The only description of the suspects was that of two black males in dark clothing armed with unknown type handguns.

This case remains under investigation at this time and the Delaware State Police is requesting any information regarding this incident to contact Detective D. May at 302-365-8439. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, via the internet at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or by sending an anonymous tip by text to 274637 (CRIMES) using the keyword “DSP.”
