Hockessin, De.-The Delaware State Police is investigating a serious hit and run crash that has left a female pedestrian seriously injured this evening on Lancaster Pike.

Preliminary investigation indicates the crash occurred today, Sunday, October 16, 2016, at approximately 6:57 p.m. as Judith Powers, 51 of Hockessin, was walking on Lancaster Pike northwest from Wellington West Drive. While in the roadway an unknown light colored vehicle possibly a Honda struck her. After impact the vehicle did not stop and continued westbound into Pennsylvania. After falling to the ground another vehicle, 2007 Honda Accord operated by Angel Escalera Cruz, 27 of New Castle, struck the pedestrian.

The 51 year old female was treated at the scene by the New Castle County Paramedics and was transported by ambulance to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center and admitted in critical condition with multiple traumatic injuries.

Troopers continue to collect and analyze evidence at the scene to determine make and model of the striking vehicle.

Lancaster Pike in the area of the collision was closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and cleared. Troopers continue to investigate this incident.

Troopers are attempting to locate the driver and vehicle that fled this crash and request anyone with information in reference to this incident to contact, the Cpl. J.
