New Castle, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a tractor trailer crash which occurred this morning.

The initial investigation has determined the incident occurred at approximately 7:49 a.m., Wednesday October 5, 2016 as Talib Shabazz, 67 of Pennsylvania, was operating a 2005 Volvo Tractor Trailer in the right lane northbound on DuPont Highway (US 13) south of Basin Road (SR 141). The tractor trailer, hauling a large freezer, approached a bridge which connects West Basin Road and East Basin Road. The freezer struck the bridge and caused the tractor trailer to come to an immediate stop in the right lane of North DuPont Highway. The front portion of the freezer which struck the bridge was torn off causing debris to scatter across all three lanes of travel. (Pictures attached)
