Felton – The Delaware State Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer and a car that occurred north of Felton early this morning.

The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. Friday September 16, 2016 as Diana L. Torres, 34 of Smyrna was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo southbound in the northbound lane of South DuPont Highway (US13) just north of Midstate Road (SR12).  Earl L. Justice, 51 of Hebron, Maryland, was operating a 2006 Freightliner tractor trailer northbound on US13 when the two vehicles struck nearly head-on.  After the impact, both vehicles came to a stop in the center median.

Diana Torres was not properly restrained and was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where she was admitted with undetermined injuries.  She was cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.

Earl Justice was properly restrained and was uninjured.

Northbound US13 was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
