Troopers Investigating Serious Motor Vehicle Crash – Update #1

Newark, DE – The northbound lanes of DE Rt. 896 at US40 have been re-opened to traffic.

This crash is still under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.

Newark, DE- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash which occurred this morning in Newark.

The initial investigation has determined that the crash occurred this morning, Friday, August 19, 2016, at approximately 2:02 a.m. on northbound DE Rt. 896 at US40 (Pulaski Highway), Newark, and involved a tractor-trailer and a Ford F-150 pick-up truck. As a result of the crash, four people have been transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Northbound Rt. 896 at US40 is closed to traffic at this time and northbound Rt. 896 traffic is being diverted onto Porter Road and then onto northbound DE Rt. 72 (Wrangle Hill Road).

The investigation into this crash is in its early stages. More information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
