Troopers Investigate Robbery of Grocery Store Customer

New Castle, DE –  Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a customer at a New Castle area grocery store that occurred yesterday morning.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident happened on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at approximately 9:50 a.m., as an 80-year-old male customer was standing in the entranceway of the Food Lion, located at 1200 Beaver Brook Plaza, New Castle. It was at this time that the customer was approached by a male suspect who then pushed him to the ground. The suspect then removed the victim’s wallet from his pocket before fleeing on foot. He was last seen running toward the Castle Brook Apartments. The victim suffered a minor injury and refused treatment at the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was in his early 30’s, 6’01” tall, 205 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red striped polo style shirt and a baseball cap. There is no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
