State Police Investigate Robbery of Newark Area Gas Station

Newark, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area gas station that occurred Friday evening.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred on Friday, August 5, 2016 at approximately 9:15 p.m., as a male suspect entered the Valero Shore Stop located at 796 North Old Baltimore Pike. The suspect, who was armed with an unknown make and model handgun, confronted a male employee of the business and demanded money and cigarettes. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes to him. The suspect then exited the business and fled in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured.

The suspect was described as a white male, 6’00”-6’01” tall, weighed 150-200lbs., and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and had a bandana covering his face. There is no further physical or clothing description available. Armed with an unknown type of handgun.  No video surveillance photos are available at this time.
