Georgetown– The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a motor vehicle crash that occurred north of Georgetown at Donovans Salvage parking lot.

Preliminary investigation reveals the incident occurred around 2:47 p.m. today, Thursday August 4, 2016, as a 35-year-old male was operating a 2001 Dodge Durango southbound on Donovans Road and failed to negotiate a sharp left curve.  The Durango struck a parked car in the parking lot of Donovans Salvage, located at 20262 Donovans Road, which in turn struck a male pedestrian.  The parked vehicle was also pushed into a food truck parked in the parking lot injuring a female employee working inside the food truck.  The 35-year-old operator then fled from the vehicle down some nearby railroad track to a residence in Georgetown where he was taken into custody approximately 25 minutes later.

The adult male pedestrian was flown to Christiana Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition with undetermined injuries.

The adult female employee in the parked food truck was airlifted to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where she was admitted in stable condition.

A more detailed release regarding the victim’s ages and hometowns will be released upon the completion of the investigation.  Alcohol is suspected as a contributing cause of this crash and charges are forthcoming.
